HiFiBerry BeoCreate
The HiFiBerry BeoCreate four-channel amplifier is a combination of DSP, DAC and amp. It is designed to upgrade old Bang & Olufsen speakers to make them compatible with modern music sources and equip them with Wi-Fi and streaming capabilities.
Apart from the form factor, there is nothing that fundamentally ties the BeoCreate to these specific speakers. However, the cross-over frequencies are set correctly for the B&O speakers. So if you are planning to use other speakers, you will need to adjust the frequencies to your hardware with SigmaStudio. This isn’t an entirely straightforward process, but it does mean that you will be able to adapt the hardware to perfectly suit a wide range of different speakers. Thus, BeoCreate offers a very flexible and versatile high-end audio solution, which is also perfect as a basis for homemade stereo setups.
Technical Details:
- Up to 180W output power (2x30W, 2x60W)
- Capable of driving up to four of 4-8 Ohm speakers (the two 60W channels can drive 2 Ohm speakers)
- 294MHz DSP with 16kB data RAM and 8kB program RAM
- 4 channel DAC supports sampling rates from 44.1kHz to 192kHz
- 16 asynchrounous sample rate converters allow to handle different sample rates on different inputs and outputs
- 4x screw terminal to connect passive speakers
- TOSLink input and output (up to 96kHz sample rate)
- Connects directly to the Raspberry Pi A+/B+/2B/3B/Zero, no additional cables needed
- Fully controllable from the Raspberry Pi
- Thanks to the onboard EEPROM, the board can work standalone, without a Raspberry Pi, as a digital amplifier. However, to program the DSP, a Raspberry Pi is required
- Only one 12-24V external power supply needed to power both the Beocreate board and a Raspberry Pi
- 5.5mm barell jack and screw terminal for external 12-24V power supply
- 34 pin expansion connector allows to connect additional hardware (access to Raspberry Pi and DSP GPIOs)
- Multiple devices can be chain-linked using SPDIF (e.g. to implement an active 4-way stereo system)
- Dimensions: 12.5 x 9.5 x 2.5 cm
Delivery Scope:
- HiFiBerry BeoCreate sound card
- 4 screws, 4 spacers, 4 screw nuts
