The HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro XLR can control the output volume with Alsamixer. It can also utilize other applications that support the Alsamixer. The DAC+ Pro XLR can also be modified to use an external power supply for the analogue part. It is also possible to connect other I2S DAC's through soldering on the board (this expires the warranty).

The Max2Play image has been optimized for HiFiBerry sound cards and can be set up easily. It ensures the best support of the HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro XLR and Raspberry Pi combination. The HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro XLR can easily be installed with the help of a Max2Play extension. The extension installs all necessary kernel drivers. After activating the sound card, it can be used by the audio players (e.g. Squeezelite) for sound output. The volume settings are then automatically set to the optimal levels.
