Definitely a winnerI have been a Squeezebox fan for about eight years. And part of the problem has been the installation & maintenance of LMS. So I have followed with interest using the Raspberry Pi as a server. I just didn't want to go through the installation and maintenance, until I discovered Max2Play. It made everything a breeze.
One thing I have learned about LMS is to keep it simple and you have less problems but these guys are supporting their product. I am hoping they keep up their development & LMS continues to be supported as well as it has been.
I am very happy with Max2Play and the HifiBerry hardware their new Digi + Pro sounds great.Posted on

ExcellentI was looking for a replacement for my Logitech Squeezebox which failed recently. Found this excellent solution of Hifiberry / Max2play. Very easy to assemble and configure, excellent results, total configuration works very well. Would have put 5 stars - but still working on a license activation problem. Hope it will be fixed soon !

HifiBerry + Max2Play FTW!I finally got my HifiBerry setup last night and added my music library and TuneIn radio. I love it. I can't wait to put together a handful of these in my house and connect them to my whole home amplifier. Having unique music in each room that's controllable by a handheld is something that costs thousands of dollars to install in a home. Control4 can only handle 2 zones per $1000 Controller!. I can put together 6 zones for less than $600. It's ridiculous.

M2P on RBP3 is central headquarters in my music systemI have M2P on RBP3. Relatively easy installation. I use M2P as the operating software for the LMS. All works fine, wich is a little marvel when you consider: LMS connects my ethernet NAS with Squeezebox Boom (wifi), Squeezebox Touch (ethernet), SqueezePlay on Windows 10 (ethernet) and a battery driven loudspeaker (bluetooth). As the bluetooth signal from RBP3 is too weak to cover my home, i use now an iPhone with the app IPeng 9 as a musicplayer (wifi) and relay the signal in bluetooth to the bluetooth speaker.
Some critisism though: the webinterface of M2P is awkward, and a when you dismount (delete) a mounted share/drive it disappears from M2P as expected, but stays in the Linux os and still shows up in LMS and IPeng.Posted on

Better technical support requiredThe product seems almost great however technical support is lacking which results in a very frustrating purchase for those not highly knwledgeable in networking. The software works great except for mounting network storage shares in my experience which severely limits the usage as a slimserver unless you have local usb storage drives attached. I suspect the problem in minor and could be resolved with some input from the technical support however there has been no response to my requests for assistance both in the contact email and the forum.
Answer from Max2Play:
Thanks for your feedback, Airheader911!
Unfortunately, our offices were empty during the Holidays until New Years and we are still working on previous technical requests. However, we are chronologically answering every query and topic on technical issues in our forums and I am sure we will have gotten to yours as well by now. Thanks for letting us know.Posted on

Bluetooth problemsI bought the license specifically for the Bluetooth support as I want to play music to my ue roll speaker. Tried every possible combination of options but can't get sound to the Bluetooth speaker. Keep getting an error unable to set volume.
Real pity as every thing works great through my HiFiBerry and loudspeakers but not Bluetooth. Seems I have wasted my money
Answer from Max2Play: Hi TheRealBigEasy, if you have problems setting up the bluetooth feature please have a look at our video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt96_jnxnnU. If you have any problems, you could always use our forum: tell us your problem and we will help you.Posted on

Good app, limited supportThe SW is great and very good integrated. I puchased the license and tried for a few weeks.
Unfortunately does not support my set up and this results in crackling an the beginning of hi resolution files (96KHz / 24bits) and then stops after a few seconds. I had to uninstall it
